Broken Garage Door Cable

The first sign of problems in the guise of a broken garage door cable commence from the installation process itself. Cables remain an essential aspect of the installation regardless of whether the springs being used are of the extension or torsion variety.  In torsion systems the cables will be attached to some brackets which are found at the bottom of each side of the garage door. You will also find that they are attached to the drums right above the door.   

The cables are supposed to wind onto the drums when the door is lifted up. On the other hand the extension spring system is designed in such a way that the cables remain an integral part of the pulley system. One way of dealing with the problem is to ensure that there is proper counterbalancing during the installation. The cables must also be checked for any signs of tearing or fraying with time.
